Sunday, September 11, 2016: “Wanderer, Worshiper, Lover of Leaving”

Presenter: Rev. Elizabeth Greene

EGreene

Speaking of community, the poet Rumi writes that we are all wanderers and worshipers and lovers of leaving. That last word, “leaving” jars us when we think of the groups to which we belong: our churches and temples and places of worship. But, if he is right that we sometimes seem to love leaving, how do we deal with this, in our communities? How does faith and fellowship keep human beings together joyfully, in the face of all that happens in the world?

Unitarian Universalism honors the differing paths we each travel. Our congregations are places where we celebrate, support, and challenge one another as we continue on these journeys. Unitarian Universalists covenant to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equality and compassion in human relations; and acceptance of one another.UA GNBathrm
