In an increasingly contentious and violent world, there is decreasing tolerance for diverse opinions, especially in the areas of religion and politics. In some areas of the world, being a religious minority is a prescription for death. Even in our country, as people become more entrenched in their views, the risk of violent encounters increases and the chance of mutual understanding and acceptance diminishes and with it the opportunity to heal and reconcile our differences.

The questions then are: How can we bridge this widening gap? How can we overcome resentment and suspicion of those whose ideas seem diametrically opposed to ours? In a humorous and provocative video, “An Evangelical Christian and a Unitarian Universalist on a Plane”the Rev. Tandi Rogers shares her story of an encounter with two Evangelical Christians on a long plane ride to Seattle and shows that it is possible not only to bridge the gap, but to find friendship in unexpected places. Anne Martin will host the service on August 17th at 10:30 at the Senior Center in Twin Falls.

Emotional Freedom Technique is a type of meridian tapping which combines principles of acupressure and psychology. Simple and effective, the process can (among other things) help to relieve pain, heal trauma, clear phobias, and release limiting beliefs. By stimulating the body’s meridian points while activating an emotional state, memory or belief, we are able to diffuse our body’s habitual response and become open to new ways of processing our life experience.

4. Can inanimate objects be our fellows?
5. Is there a cosmic fellowship?

This Sunday’s service will be an examination of Universalism. Universalism is the part of our Faith that seems always to be placed second after Unitarianism. We need to look into it into more depth and understand what Universalism is all about.

We will be talking about heaven, hell and sin.

The source for our discussion will be the Rev. Forrest Church. For many years before his death Rev. Church was minister at The Unitarian Church of All Souls in New York City. This will be a chance to talk about what we believe. All are invited.

Rev. Forest Church was the son of Senator Frank Church of Idaho.
