January 3: “Hands on the Wheel” (Online Service)

Presenter: Rev. Monica Dobbins
(Minister: First Unitarian Church of Salt Lake City

Throughout 2020, we’ve felt as though someone else was driving the vehicle, and we were just along for the ride, barreling down the highway at top speed headed nowhere good.
We’ll all be glad to see that ride come to an end. But we can’t live on the defensive forever – at some point, we need to know what we are fighting FOR.

This year, how can we stop resisting, and start living inside our own imaginations? Join us at 10:30 Mountain Time this Sunday

Unitarian Universalism honors the differing paths we each travel. Our congregations are places where we celebrate, support, and challenge one another as we continue on our spiritual journeys. As UUs, we covenant to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equality and compassion in human relations; and acceptance of one another. Newcomers of all religious paths or none at all are always welcome.

December 27: “I Can’t Listen When My Fists are Clenched” (Online Service)

Presenter: Rev. Jenny Peek
(Minister, Pocatello Unitarian Universalist Fellowship)

Whether or not anyone actually cheers when 2020 ends, we likely won’t shed many tears at its passing. Yet so many tears have we shed for the pain and suffering these many months have carried. Time to breathe, time to pause and give some witness to all the heartache. What has helped us so far, and what is better for letting go? Join us this Sunday when our visiting minister, Rev. Jenny Peek, brings us her reflection.

December 16: Social Gathering Evening (Online)

You’re Invited!

The Magic Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship is inviting you to a UU Virtual Social Gathering on Wednesday December 16, 2020 from 7 to 9 pm. The purpose of this gathering is to give us an opportunity to gather as a group in a social setting.

In order to facilitate interaction, we will have breakouts into small groups for short periods and then rotate into other groups so you will get a chance to visit with most everyone who attends and get to see how folks are doing. We may even have a couple of games that we will play.

Please feel free to make your favorite snacks and beverages of choice to enjoy during the evening. Below is the Zoom link and password if you are asked to provide one.

December 13: “Come and Find the Quiet Center” (Online Service)

Presenter: Liza Long (Member: Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship)

On Sunday, March 15, 2020, Liza Long, our guest speaker from the Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, was double booked. She was scheduled to accompany the marvelous Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship choir and also play the organ at her children’s Latter-Day Saint church service at the exact same time. Liza prayed for a miracle–and her prayer was granted. Everything was canceled, not just that Sunday, but for many Sundays afterwards.

In the midst of a global pandemic, social change, and life uncertainty, how can we use an unexpected gift of time to find our quiet center?

Liza Long is a college English professor, a writer, a mental health advocate, and a mother of four children, one of whom lives with bipolar disorder.

December 6: “Still, Still, Still” (Online Service)

Presenter: Rev. Monica Dobbins
(Minister: Unitarian Universalist Church of Ogden)

In some ways, we’ve been in a holding pattern since March – waiting for things to get back to normal.

What does it mean to wait well? In the season of Advent, we learn how waiting for its own sake enriches us spiritually and can help us during this time.

Please join us this Sunday at 10:30 Mountain Time.
