Sunday, January 1, 2017: “Starting Over?”

Presented by: Chad Minteer

With the New Year, we have an opportunity to reflect, to renew commitments, and to consider the year ahead. Sometimes this can be daunting, and sometimes we can set unrealistic expectations for ourselves. Do we really have to start over? Or can we start from right where we are?

Join us as we consider helpful perspectives for beginning the new year in hope, in love, in community.

Unitarian Universalism honors the differing paths we each travel. Our congregations are places where we celebrate, support, and challenge one another as we continue on our spiritual journeys. Unitarian Universalists covenant to affirm and promote the inherent worth and dignity of every person; justice, equality and compassion in human relations; and acceptance of one another.

Please join us Sunday at the Vendor Blender and Event Center, 588 Addison Avenue West in Twin Falls at 10:30 AM. The Vendor Blender is located near the old hospital near the intersection of Martin St. and Addison Avenue West. Newcomers of all religious paths or none at all are always welcome. Presented by: Julie Merrick

“Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love.” This quote by Hamilton Wright Mabie, reminds us that the winter holidays bring light to a dark time and summon each of us to participate in the magic, wonder and love of the season.

thinkdifferentBy being attentive to the underlying generosity of spirit, hope and goodwill found in all traditions, religious and secular, our celebrations become life affirming and cause for joy.

Sunday, December 4, 2016: “Angels and Ministers of Grace Defend Us….”

Presented by:  Rev. Elizabeth Greene
EGreene

This is the season when we think of angels, singing in the heavens, announcing amazing news, rejoicing greatly.

What can a reflection on these strange beings bring to us in the modern world? A familiar line from Shakespeare’s Hamlet (Act 1 Scene 4) asks help from “angels and ministers of grace”—what can that mean now?

Whether we believe in the literal existence of something angelic or not, how do we ask for and respond to, gifts of grace?
