Sunday, August 28, 2016: “The Underlying Nature of Reality”

Presenter: Julie Merrick

Metaphysics is a division of philosophy that is concerned with the fundamental nature of reality. While there are many opinions and scant consensus as to what is truth, the idea that a human being is an energy field, operating within a larger energy field is worthy of consideration.

Does human consciousness affect the unfolding of reality and to what degree? Is there a creative force in this Universe of which we are a part?

How might we experiment with these ideas and use what we discover to create a better life for ourselves and those around us?

In a world filled with too many words, what is the role of silence? Why does silence matter to our spiritual well-being? And how can we cultivate more of it in our lives. The service will be based on an online Sermon by Rev. Laura L. Mancuso (Live Oak UU Congregation, Goleta CA)

Rev. Laura L. Mancuso is an interfaith chaplain who has worked for 25 years in leadership roles in the public mental health system at the local, state, and national levels. Rev. Mancuso supports individuals and families dealing with end-of-life issues or grieving the death of a loved one.
As an ordained interfaith minister, Laura strives to honor all faith traditions, as well as the spiritual paths and life philosophies of those who do not adhere to any religion.
