Three daughters, Kacee O’Connor, Emmie Schlobohm, and Debra Smith, members the Boise Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, will share how they use their Unitarian Universalist principles to meet the challenge when they suddenly find themselves caregivers to their aging mothers. Some days they struggle living up to their Unitarian Universalist principles when it comes to taking care of their mothers’ emotional needs and some days they don’t do a good job of taking care of themselves.

Often, they are befuddled by the emotional whirlpool that living so close to someone who is nearing the end causes. How can they help each other? They are working with others to form communities that offer support, resources and sometimes just evenings of whining with wine. These three women will share how they use their Unitarian Universalist principles to help navigate this challenge.

REMINDER:

(Still at 10:30 AM)

Presenter: Michael Becerra

We are all at our very best when our thoughts and actions are fully aligned with our spiritual beliefs. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done. Very few of us can consistently walk this narrow path, even by our own definition. Some diversions are small, some are very large — and we must have a means to reconcile this within ourselves.

This week Michael Becerra will discuss his experience “Living as a Spiritual Hypocrite” and the challenges he chooses to take on or ignore as he strives to be fully authentic in his spirituality.

December 16: “Dark Mystery” – Rev. Elizabeth L. Greene

“Dark Mystery,” a sermon by Rev. Elizabeth L. Greene

Winter Solstice is almost upon us, that day when we have less light and more dark than any other day of the year. Also, days are pretty short all around this period, letting us reflect upon the mysteries of light and dark in our lives, how such things affect our spirits and our spiritual outlooks.

When we are in darkness, we also live in the hope of lighter days, of the Christ Child and stars and angels, of miraculous oil-burning lamps of an ancient people. In the mystery that dark can bring, we can grow our hearts in love.

Please Note, There will be a potluck meal following the service. Please join us. All in attendance, including visitors, are welcome!

This Sunday, we will explore what it means to change and transform, what prompts us to begin and stay on the journey of transformation and what are some of the key ingredients facilitating change.

Illustrations from the book/movie “Wonder” poetry by Mary Oliver and Anais Nin and the neuroscience of Dr. Joe Dispenza will be used to assist in this exploration of transformation. How transformation applies to us all personally and to our spiritual community will also be addressed.
